data.logs / Exhibition

August 21, 2017

Artists: Rihards Vītols, Kristaps Biters and Pēters Riekstiņš

From English language, word “datalogging” represents the process of collecting and storing information in a longer period of time with the aim to analyze specific events, trends or systems. The exhibition artists themselves are working as “datalogs” – representatives of a non-existing profession, creating, researching and showing data archives. The exhibition will showcase four artworks: Kristaps Biters will present his personal information that he have collected about himself in the digital space for several years. Pēters Riekstins has created parasitic system for his computer, that registers every mouse click, thus collecting large archive. The result is an image resembling Universe, in which each click is a heavenly body in the size of a pixel. Rihards Vītols will present the records he have made in the Amazon rainforest during his research about the future of forests. The sounds heard in the exhibition to the author’s mind are the ones a tree produces while “drinking” water. Trihars artist group has been considered one of the fastest growing underground media projects in Latvia.
